We are in a digital age where there is a constant explosion of information. Let’s take the example of the pandemic. We are inundated with information about it from print, news channels and electronic media 24X7. We devour a lot of information but most of it is forgotten just as quickly as it is consumed. What sticks or gets our attention is a good story!
Storytelling is a timeless skill. A good story makes us think and feel. It can inspire, persuade, motivate and teach. When we listen to a story the neurons in our brain get activated and they in turn release hormones that prompt us to act. Stories get lodged in our brains and can be retrieved with a trigger.
Carmine Gallo, author of Five Stars: The Communication Secrets to Get from Good to Great sums it up by saying,” Stories are irresistible, and storytellers are alluring”.
